Dr Seuss Day

It's a lovely Dr Seuss celebration day. Decided to head over to the home school celebration in Dr Seuss' honor. Bring a Dr Seuss snack they said. It started at noon. Technical difficulties. We decided to bring Cat in the hat jello cups and "green eggs and ham" treats. Which one do you think was the epic fail. Haha

What they were supposed to look like:

What they actually looked like:

We put on a smile and took them anyway. And then there was the disaster in the car. Clearly we did not think through the transportation. They tipped over more than once and we had to use all the napkins in the car we could find for cleanup.

But these weren't too bad and they tasted great. :-) (mint green m and m's)

People are kind and forgiving, so it was all good. But moral of the story, have low expectations.

I'M JUST KIDDING!

I'll keep trying and hoping for the best and laughing along the way. My #notsopinterestlife

Polly Positive

I have this weird weakness. I am THE MOST POSITIVE person I know when it comes to time management. I think I can do way more than can ever be done in an hour. And this is what happens. The groceries were not put completely away last night, when I ran to get a few more this morning, because chicken was $1.59 a pound. Must. Can. Chicken.

I also had peaches to can, which I got for .70 cents a pound. I THOUGHT I would have the peaches AND chicken done by noon. What kind of psycho?

No. This is what my kitchen looked like at 10 am. The peach skins which were SUPPOSED to slip right off after blanching them, refused to slip. I tried twice. So, we had to pare almost every one of those suckers. It is nearly 7, and chicken is in the canner. I have another batch to do. I won't finish till after 9pm. But hey! 9 quarts of peaches and 12 quarts of chicken. Woot! No! You can't see a side view of the peaches, because they are floating at the top of the jar, with space at the bottom. :-)

Not SO Pinterest

True confessions. I love Pinterest. Rarely have time for it, but....*I* thought it was a great place for bookmarks. But over time, I've seen how Pinterest has become a place that IF YOU LET IT, can make you feel less than. Ok, nothing can MAKE you feel less than, but YOU. But, everyone's posting their picture perfect lives and you're over there thinking, I can't even get breakfast on the table! Or whatever simple thing is overwhelming you that day.

So, I want to start a movement. Because if guilt is not inspiring you to change and to allow God to change you, then it is absolutely of no value! Recently I've realized that even some of the things I post on FB can make it seem like we live some kind of picture perfect life. Some days I DO feel that way, because I am working on gratitude in ALL THINGS and being content with what I have and not wishing for what I don't. But while I'm married with children, with a home, traveling often, there are others in pain. Divorce, childlessness, unmarried, ill health, and so forth. Now, I will NOT claim responsibility for anyone else's happiness, but I don't need to unnecessarily contribute either. We all need to know we're flawed. I think that was easier before the internet, and FB, and Pinterest, and twitterville.

So, I live in a trailer. I still struggle with that one, but I choose to be grateful for this manufactured home that shelters us. It's hard not to pine for the home I HAD, but that is not showing gratitude and we offend God in no greater way than by not acknowledging His hand in all things. (see verse 21)

Today my goal is to get my things unpacked and to get my living room in tip top shape. I COULD show you my simplified mantle, all cleaned and shined, and the moths out of the picture. And you COULD think that I have a perfectly clean home. But instead I want to show you my #notsopinterest life, so that every time you are tempted to think I have a perfect life, does anyone? You will KNOW that I don't.

So, here is my #notsopinterestlife today. I hope you will share how you are not perfect too, and then we can all appreciate that we are on a JOURNEY to a DESTINATION. We are learning and growing as we go. And the learning and growing is what it's all about!
